Harry Potter Anniversary Week – DAY 7!!

Happy Potterversary!!! Today marks 21 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was published, and the end of the Harry Potter Week…

So… We made it!! It’s been so great to read all of your posts these past few days, and I loved to take part in this.

I really didn’t think I’d make it to the end, but, I’m writing this last minute and hoping it’ll be done in time…. *checks the clock* Okay, can I have a time-turner now, please??

SO FOR THE LAST DAY!!! I’m switching things up a little. Starting with a quick mashup of the days I missed, followed by my thank you notes, and ending with a roundup of other posts in the event, in case you wanted more. So here we go!

DAY 3 – Top 7 characters

First, let me just say, it’s not too easy to narrow this down. So many amazing people are being left out. BUT these are my 7 favorite characters… In no particular order, because I can’t possibly rank them…

Harry Potter

First off, the guy himself! He’s sassy, rebellious, somewhat tragic, and definitely fun to have around. Gets in too much trouble for his own good, but hey, that’s how the fun stuff happens! oh my, what am i saying. Despite all of his flaws, he’s bold, kind and always there for the people he cares about. And his comebacks… Are the best.

Hermione Granger

Appart from being a genius, she’s independent, and fierce, and gave Malfoy a pretty good punch. She’s one of the bravest people in the series, and kind and caring despite the occasional rage. (You know, those birds she threw at Ron…)

Ron Weasley

Ron is often given a hard time because of his silliness (and mistakes), but… He’s great. He grows up to be brave and selfless (at times), drives Hermione crazy (quite often) and is incredibly awkward (most of the time). I mean, where would we even be if he hadn’t friended Harry?? There’s no story without him.

Ginny Weasley

I love Ginny so much. She’s fierce, sticks up for her friends, and stays confident despite her traumatizing first-year brush with death. She’s also an awesome Quidditch player. Probably a cool mom.

Remus Lupin

Lupin is so very sad… His life is full of tragedy, and yet he’s there for everyone, and is such an amazing person… and teacher! He was the only good Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Harry ever had. And he knew that chocolate is the best cure for everything!! He struggled so much with Tonks and having a family, but I bet he’d have been a great father 😭

Hagrid

He’s clueless, and clumsy, extremely loyal and protective, and can’t resist a possibly explosive, surly, dangerous creature. And… well, he gave Dudley a pigtail. Bonus points.

Fred and George

These two are crazy. They make everything into a joke, break all the rules, and are just hilarious. And their prank shop?? I so want to go there. (I kinda just grouped them into one?? This is fine, right??)

And, as the 8th character, I’m adding Dumbledore to the list. Yes, this is cheating.

I can’t leave him out! His death was so traumatizing, I just couldn’t accept he was gone. And, yes, I got upset at him for all the lies and secrets, but… CAN I PLEASE HAVE HIM BACK?? I can give him lemon sherbets?? And socks?? Okay?? Just bring him back.

DAY 2 – Ranking

AND FOR DAY 2… I have nothing. I just can’t, okay? It’s been a while!! I don’t remember all the details!! And I only own the last two books, so they were re-read, like, a thousand times, while the others weren’t. It’s an unfair advantage. So I’m going to skip this. Don’t mind me.

DAY 4 – A Harry Potter Story

I could tell you everything about how I met Harry Potter because my mom recorded the first movie on a video cassette one winter, OR how I read the books in the wrong order, OR how a cousin spoiled that Harry was going to die and I only half believed him, OR how mom was always shocked that I was re-reading the books AGAIN, OR how I’d spend hours reading The Deathly Hallows on the grass during the summer… BUT since we’re short on time… I watched the 4th movie at 2am, with my parents, while eating a box of chocolate cereal, which is something I’ll never forget. (that’s a good story… right??)

DAY 5 – Ships!

To be honest, I’ve never had any non-canon ships?? I was pulling for Harry to get with Cho Chang while that lasted, but HIM AND GINNY!! It’s just perfect. And I absolutely love that Harry and Hermione stayed friends. She’s like a sister to him, and I wouldn’t have it end any other way. As for Hermione and Ron?? It just had to happen. I bet they have never-ending fights… But it just had to happen.

As for relationships that did not happen… I could see Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore together for a bit… after that dance in the Great Hall… But, no, THEY JUST HAVE TO BE BEST FRIENDS, PLEASE. I also wished Hagrid’s relationship with Maxime would have worked out, but ultimately… That would have been a mess. Sorry, Hagrid.

To be honest, I can’t even with all those Hermione and Malfoy, and Harry and Malfoy,  and Snape whatever ships. Sorry, not sorry. *hides before someone tries to tackle me*

DAY 7 – THANK YOU!!

And here we are! The end of the line. Technically, it’s 3am of the 27th right now… But let’s pretend I’m still on time!! So, this is going to be… A bunch of thank you notes…

To J.K. Rowling, for giving me a place to get lost in during all these years, and for putting some magic into all our lives. You’re amazing, and what you made is amazing.

To Harry! For dragging me into his world, and letting me be a part of it and his roller-coaster life. And for making me angry. And giddy. And sad. And nervous. And crazy. For all the fun times.

To my mom, for turning me into a little bookdragon and bringing me into the wizarding world, for reading with me, watching movies with me, and getting me all those books I’d then never want to drop… and for being absolutely amazing and the best in every way.

To the Potterheads out there, for bringing this amazing world to life in so many ways, and making the magic even more real.

And to you! For reading this, and celebrating with me!! Thank you for making this such a great week, and for making blogging one of the great things in my life.
